We Told You Last Week That The Chiefs Were In Trouble! by Bob Acton

We Told You Last Week That The Chiefs Were In Trouble!

On Friday September 8th on www.sportsbettingbuzz.com we advised you to be very careful with the Kansas City Chiefs this season as they had some major issues on the offensive line and no proven backup at quarterback for Trent Green. With all due apologies to Mr. Green and his family, I did not think that he would be visiting the infirmary on the first weekend of the NFL season.

The Chiefs have been a mediocre defensive team for years and have always relied heavily on an offense that can churn out the yards and milk the clock. With an undersized offensive tackle in Kyle Turley, who hasn’t played a down of football in a few years, running will be tough.

On this past Monday night in Washington you may have noticed Vikings’ fullback Tony Richardson leading the way on several of Chester Taylor’s runs. This is the same guy who was in front of Priest Holmes the past several years.

No team in football can absorb losses of that magnitude and hope to compete in a division that has the Chargers and the Broncos. Now KC and their coach, Herman Edwards, must head to Denver and face a Bronco team that is smarting from Sunday’s loss to the Rams.

Their QB Jake Plummer had an awful time handling the aggressive St. Louis blitz and the Chiefs had better try using the same medicine. The problem though for the underdog visitors was that they had backup QB Damon Huard who had not heaved a football in a regular season game since 2000.

Denver is probably going to put 8 men in the box, take away the running game, and force the Chiefs to the air. Kansas City’s 3rd string quarterback is Brody Coyle, a rookie out of Alabama who had an injury filled career in college. The last thing Edwards wants to do is have him get trampled in the Rocky Mountains by a herd of Broncos.

Do yourself a favor in the next few weeks and pay attention to the injury list before you do any football betting. In St. Louis, the Rams just lost a huge piece of their offensive machine when Andy McCollum tore up his knee. This is going to be an issue if you planned on making a few bets on the Rams at the sportsbooks.

Seattle lost All Pro Steve Hutchinson to the Vikings and now All World tackle Walter Jones is hurt. Be careful Seahawk fans about the dreaded Super Bowl loser curse!

Speaking of the Vikings, their O-Line is full of studs and they will be good this year.
